Watsons MY's new pop-up café celebrates sustainable beauty
share on
In celebration of Earth Month this April, health and beauty retailer Watsons Malaysia has launched its Naturals by Watsons pop-up café, an immersive campaign aimed at promoting sustainable beauty and eco-conscious living.
The pop-up celebrates the relaunch of the Naturals by Watsons range, now 100% vegan, dermatologically tested, and made with over 95% natural-origin ingredients. The packaging uses 100% recycled ocean-bound plastic, with some products featuring 60% certified sustainable palm oil, reinforcing Watsons' commitment to beauty and the planet.
Held from 25 March to 28 April in Bukit Bintang, the initiative offers customers a unique lifestyle experience that goes beyond just retail, featuring refill stations, educational workshops, exclusive promotions and sustainability-focused activities.

At the heart of the pop-up café is an emphasis on education and action, constructed using sustainable materials, with highlights such as a giant product sculpture and a sustainability mural, both created from 100% recycled materials, including Naturals by Watsons empty bottles and Watsons single-use plastic bags. This initiative is a collaboration between Watsons Malaysia, Waste Management Association Malaysia (WMAM), local NGO HARA Makers, and university students, aimed at raising awareness about plastic waste reduction and responsible consumption.
To further encourage green practices and make sustainability more accessible, the pop-up includes refill stations for specific Watsons products to encourage waste reduction. Additionally, weekend workshops will be held for upcycling crafts such as aroma scents and macrame wood rings. Customers spending RM30 and above in a single receipt at the café can join in on these activities.

The pop-up's eco-conscious activities include posting on social media to receive a free engraved wooden keychain, exchanging an empty polyethylene terephthalate (PET) for a shower gel, and visiting the "scent bar" to receive a complimentary scented coaster card, available at first-come, first-serve basis.
Caryn Loh, managing director of Watsons Malaysia and chief operating officer of Health and Beauty Asia said, "The café offers a space for customers to engage, learn, and shop while embracing our core values of health, beauty, and sustainability. As a leading health and beauty retailer, we aim to make a difference not only through the products we offer but also in how we engage with our customers and contribute to a greener planet."
"As part of its long-term sustainability goals, Watsons Malaysia is committed to achieving 100% sustainable packaging for all Watsons brand products within the next five years. This initiative aligns with Watsons’ global sustainability mission and is further strengthened by its partnership with ClimatePartner to actively reduce carbon emissions and promote greener retail practices," she added.
The sustainability-focused initiative follows Watsons Malaysia's recent brand film “Watsons Raya Terunggul” (The best Raya) for the Hari Raya festive season, which reunited legendary characters from Malaysia’s beloved film and television series such as “Mami Jarum”, “Adnan Sempit”, and “Gerak Khas”.
Blending nostalgia and comedy, the Raya film also featured other popular stars Hisyam Hamid, Maya Karin, Ropie, and Mia Sara. Set against the backdrop of a classic Raya celebration, “Watsons Raya Terunggul" follows Melati, a devoted daughter preparing to welcome a new father into her life. As she struggles with the uncertainty of change, the legendary film characters magically come to life, guiding her through an emotional yet humorous journey of self-discovery.
