Campbell Wilson is resigning as CEO of Scoot, and Leslie Thng (pictured left) has been appointed new CEO of Scoot. Wilson’s (pictured right) last day at Scoot is 15 June 2022, and he will subsequently join Air India as its new CEO. Wilson has been with SIA since 1997, and has been CEO of Scoot since April 2020. He was the founding CEO of Scoot from 2011 to 2016, in his first stint with the airline when it was still a long-haul low-cost carrier, and prior to its merger with short-haul low-cost carrier Tigerair.

He was previously senior vice president of sales and marketing, SIA, between September 2016 and March 2020. He has also run SIA’s overseas operations in Canada, Hong Kong, and Japan. Meanwhile, Thng, who is senior VP of sales and marketing, Singapore Airlines has been with the SIA Group for 23 years. Prior to his current role, Thng was CEO of Vistara, SIA’s Indian joint venture with Tata Sons, between October 2017 and December 2021. He was chief commercial officer of Scoot from May 2016 to October 2017, and chief executive of SIA’s regional carrier SilkAir between August 2012 and May 2016.

Goh Choong Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, said: “Wilson is one of our most experienced senior executives, who has made many important contributions in key management roles within the SIA Group. While we are sad to lose him, he goes to Air India with our full blessings. We wish Campbell every success in his new and exciting role.”

He added that Thng has successfully led Vistara through a significant period of growth in its domestic and international business. He has also had a broad range of management experience within the SIA Group and is no stranger to Scoot, having previously been its CCO. “Scoot is an integral part of our portfolio of airlines, and we are confident it will emerge stronger and retain its leadership position in the low-cost market segment with Thng at the helm,” Goh said.

Scoot recently appointed VMLY&R to support on creative, brand and social campaigns, and PHD to support on media planning and buying. The appointment is for an initial two years with the possibility of extending another year if there is no change to the scope. On the PR front, Scoot has appointed Burson Cohn & Wolfe to manage PR duties in Singapore following a first closed-door pitch.

Under Wilson's leadership, Scoot saw numerous successful marketing campaign. Most notably, Scoot put up a cheeky video pointing out the similarities of American airline Spirit’s logo and marketing collaterals featuring CEO Wilson himself.

At MARKETING-INTERACTIVE’s MARKies awards, the brand often bagged awards for its ideas on digital, mobile, social, viral and social. The company also landed the top title of Marketer of the Year at the Marketing Excellence Awards 2014  and  2015 .
