Brands in Malaysia market on Olympic hopefuls

So, it's confirmed. Malaysian badminton doubles pair Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong are now guaranteed at least a silver medal in the Rio Olympics 2016. This after the duo managed to defeat China's Chai Biao and Hong Wei during their men's semi-final match on Tuesday (August 16).

And, some brands have been fast to jump onto the shiny Olympic congratulating bandwagon, with some even offering extra perks.

Xox Mobile

Malaysia’s mobile virtual network operator Xox Mobile, for one, put up a post yesterday on its Facebook- saying it'll be rewarding a total of RM100,000 cash to our national badminton players Goh and Tan if they bring back Malaysia's first ever Gold Olympic medal! The post now has more than 211 shares.

Bed Coffee & Lounge

Penang based F&B outlet Bed Coffee & Lounge is also taking this opportunity to encourage customers to dine and watch the three key badminton matches at their cafe.

And it's not all about badminton. Just today, Malaysian old giant Petronas posted one that cheers for national elite rider, Azizulhasni Awang who won a bronze medal in the keirin event at the Rio Olympics on Tuesday.

Telco Digi also congratulates the national cyclist, with hashtaging his nickname ‪#‎PocketRocketMan‬

All eyes will be on the badminton's final battle tonight. Will Malaysia clinch its first Gold medal in the Olympics? Only time will tell.

Good luck, guys!
