Hong Kong-based creative agency Branding Records has appointed Fumi Kamigama (pictured) as its new creative lead, reporting to chief operating officer Gabriele Zanoni.

In her new role, Kamigama will support the creative leadership in developing and executing innovative concepts that align with the brand's vision and objectives. She will also oversee the development and execution of all creative projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines. She is mainly responsible for the agency's operations in Hong Kong and Shanghai, as well as Southeast Asia markets.

In terms of cross-functional collaboration and client liaison, Kamigama will work closely with other departments, such as strategy and account servicing, to ensure cohesive messaging and execution. She will also maintain communication with clients and stakeholders to stay informed and incorporate their needs and feedback into the creative process.

As a creative lead, Kamigama is also tasked with strengthening the agency's brand identity and visibility by updating and managing critical assets that effectively communicate its strengths and attract clients. She is also responsible for mentoring and inspiring junior creative staff to foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Born in Japan and raised in Hong Kong, Kamigama moved abroad to study marketing in Boston and later lived in New York City. Her experience at a luxury branding and advertising agency under Publicis Groupe sparked her passion for design and creative strategy, where she worked on projects for clients such as Revlon, DFS, Las Vegas Sands, and Cotton Council International.

Exploring the tech startup scene during the rise of networking apps and co-working spaces in Manhattan deepened Kamigama’s interest in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, leading her to earn certification at Pratt Institute.

After returning to Hong Kong, Kamigama has gained valuable experience in both in-house and agency roles across various industries, including fashion, wellness, luxury retail, F&B, hospitality, tech, and non-profit sectors. Her portfolio includes notable projects and clients such as Lane Crawford, ZA Bank, Shangri-La, and Grana.

Currently, Branding Records is working with brands such as DIOR, Nespresso, CHUBB, ifc, HASL, MSF Doctors Without Borders, and WWF.

“I’m thrilled to start this new chapter as assistant creative director at Branding Records. Coming back into the workforce after freelancing, I’m eager to collaborate with like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds, gaining fresh inspiration and perspectives, and of course, create beautiful and meaningful work together!” Kamigama said.

“I’m especially grateful to have connected with creatives such as Pesavento and Zanoni, who immediately recognised the value of my perspective and working style, despite my non-traditional designer background. Together, I’m eager to advance Branding Records into its next phase!” she added.
