BlisMedia hires Amobee co-founder

Advertising technology company BlisMedia has hired Harry Dewhirst (pictured) to its executive team and board of directors. Dewhirst, based out of Blis’ Singapore office, is now president and chief commercial officer, leading the growing global commercial partnerships and playing a key role in strategic planning for international expansion.

Dewhirst has previously run businesses in Europe, USA and Asia-Pacific. He co-founded advertising technology firms Amobee and RingRing Media. Amobee was acquired in 2012 by Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) for $321 million. (Read also: SingTel spends big on tech acquisitions)

Through the appointment, the ad tech company hopes to grow its business globally and most specifically in Asia-Pacific markets. Late last year, Blis established its Southeast Asia hub in Singapore and an Australasia hub in Sydney. In a conversation with Marketing, Dewhirst added that the company has plans to open more offices globally in the next year eyeing markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

Dewhirst will be reporting to Greg Isbister, founder and CEO of BlisMedia who is also currently based in Singapore. The duo is looking to replicate the business model which was established in UK in Singapore to grow its hub. It is also looking to appoint an MD in Singapore in the near future.

“Advertisers globally are seeking new ways to reach relevant audiences and we are seeing an explosion in data-led audience targeting – this comes at a crucial time for Blis. Our Infinity+ platform is the best in the market, and our multi-channel and crossplatform solutions are uniquely placed to help brands reach the people that matter, at the right place and time,” Dewhirst added.

Blis’ core technology platform, Infinity+, is proprietary technology comprising a real-time bidding (RTB) platform with data capabilities. The data insight enables precisely-targeted advertisements based on audience location behaviour. Blis tracks consumer location data across all personal devices to form purchasing behaviour insights.

The ad tech company currently works with most major network agencies and services clients such as McDonald’s, Oracle, American Express, HSBC, Telefonica, Samsung, BMW, Warner Bros and many more. Blis was established in the UK in 2004, bringing audience location data and consumer targeting expertise to brands.
