BCA tackles fake websites with 'B.C.A' safety browsing campaign

Bank Central Asia (BCA) has launched its “BCA safety internet browsing” campaign, an initiative designed to raise awareness of fake BCA websites and encourage customers to adopt safer browsing habits when accessing their accounts.

The campaign centres on the mnemonic “B.C.A”, which guides customers through three steps: Buka (open the website by manually typing its address), Cek (check and verify the website’s authenticity), and Ayo Bintangin (bookmark the official website for future access).

BCA has released a film following an office worker tasked with transferring employees’ salaries through KlikBCA. When he visits the internet banking site, his bookmarks come to life as a group of people questioning whether the website is legitimate, prompting him to pause and verify the site before proceeding with the transaction.

The campaign is being rolled out across television, digital, out-of-home (OOH) and cinema channels.

Adrian Hermansyah, SVP head of marketing communication at BCA, said the campaign is intended to help customers recognise the risks posed by fake websites and develop a simple routine for accessing BCA's digital services safely.

“Don't let scammers hurry you! Smart habits make safe transactions,” said Hermansyah.

The campaign was created by Flock – Future Creative Network (FCN), with production handled by OneBox and direction by Dimas Djay.

Rather than relying solely on warnings about online scams, BCA's approach puts the emphasis on a repeatable customer behaviour: manually entering the website, checking its authenticity and bookmarking the legitimate site to avoid relying on potentially misleading search results or links.

The campaign will run for one year across its media executions.
