Bank Jago personalises money management with new 'Inspirasi Kantong' feature

Indonesian digital lender Bank Jago has launched Inspirasi Kantong, a new feature within the Jago App designed to help customers personalise how they organise their finances based on their goals, financial habits and spending behaviour.

The feature builds on the bank's signature "Kantong" (Pockets) functionality, introducing personalised recommendations that guide users in structuring their finances according to their individual priorities rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all budgeting approach.

Through a short questionnaire covering financial aspirations, habits, financial capacity and confidence in money management, users are assigned one of six "Inspirasi Kantong" profiles - Perintis, Pejuang, Pembangun, Pelindung, Penjaga and Perancang. Each profile comes with recommended Pocket arrangements that users can adopt immediately or customise further.

Michael Hartawan, head of retail banking brand and marketing at Bank Jago, said the feature reflects the reality that financial management differs from person to person.

"Everyone has different financial goals and their own way of managing money. That's why we created Inspirasi Kantong - to help users discover Pocket arrangements that are relevant and suited to their personal financial circumstances and the way they manage their money in the Jago App," Hartawan said.

To support the launch, Bank Jago also introduced Reality challenge: Seni menempatkan uang, a 30-day social experiment involving 10 participants from different professions and financial backgrounds. Each participant received an additional IDR 10 million (US$552) to manage using the Jago App while pursuing their personal financial goals.

The campaign was developed in collaboration with filmmakers Jovial da Lopez and Andovi da Lopez and was accompanied throughout the challenge by certified financial planner Annisa Steviani.

According to Bank Jago, eight out of the 10 participants initially said they would rather have more money than be better at managing it. After completing the month-long challenge, the same number instead said they would choose stronger money management skills over having more money.

Michael said the shift reinforced the campaign's central message.

Rather than scripting participants' decisions, the bank allowed each individual to decide how to allocate the funds, producing a range of financial journeys shaped by their own ambitions.

Among the participants was Andini, a yoga teacher who used the additional funds to move closer to launching a wellness business. Based on the assessment, she received the Perintis profile, with Pocket recommendations covering emergency savings, daily expenses, savings and business spending.

Another participant, Caesario, who aims to organise a music concert while funding an umrah pilgrimage for his parents, was assigned the Pejuang profile, with a Pocket structure tailored to balancing savings, essential spending and emergency funds.

Reflecting on his experience, participant Fadlu said: "For Bank Jago, this may be a challenge, but for me, it has been a character-building experience."

Bank Jago said the campaign demonstrates that effective financial management is less about the amount of money people earn and more about allocating it according to their personal priorities and long-term objectives.
