Beloved SG mascot Merli partners up with Baby Shark

Baby Shark and Merli, Singapore's mascot based on the Merlion, are making waves with a fun and inspiring video titled "Sing, Sing, Singapore!" to draw tourists to Singapore.  The music video is available in both English and Korean, exclusively released on Pinkfong’s YouTube channels and STB’s YouTube channel.

Accompanied by the catchy tune from iconic Baby Shark, the new music video follows Pinkfong, Baby Shark, and Merli as they explore the nine exciting attractions and authentic dishes in Singapore. Both the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and The Pinkfong Company want consumers to discover the most dynamic experiences of Singapore while enjoying the melody from the popular song, with a Singapore twist. Additionally, the partnership will be expanded to roll out a series of other marketing activities that seek to attract families with young children to Singapore.

According to STB, the collaboration is part of its efforts to capture travel demand as the COVID-19 border restrictions begin to lift in Singapore. "We are delighted to work with The Pinkfong Company to showcase Singapore in a fun and friendly way through this music video, which is part of our latest SingapoReimagine campaign to get visitors to reignite their passion for travel through fresh and innovative experiences in Singapore," Angeline Tang, area director of Korea Singapore Tourism Board, explained. She added that Singapore is ready to welcome visitors from Korea, both young and old.

Meanwhile, Ryan Seungkyu Lee, executive vice president at The Pinkfong Company, said the company is thrilled to be working with STB. He also explained that travel offers incomparable education for children, helping them interact with different cultures and others' lives. As such, the company will continue to seek opportunities where it can connect the people around the world through our joyful content.

Separately, as part of STB's "SingapoReimagine campaign", the tourism board also expanded its marketing efforts to the Philippines market, signing an agreement with Philippine Airlines (PAL) to promote travel.  To kickstart the partnership, the PAL and STB will commence work on a joint campaign featuring PAL in-flight voice Inka Magnaye.

Meanwhile, The Pinkfong Company swam into the NFT space last year, joining forces with digital art marketplace MarkersPlace to launch the Baby Shark NFT collection. Titled "Baby Shark: Collection No. 1", the NFT series offers both unique and limited edition pieces. It will also feature Baby Shark and his family in original, loopable animations that are accompanied by audio that references the song.
