Astro adds more international content to lure in consumers

More and more Malaysians want their entertainment personalised and fresh.As such, Astro is adding on more exclusive content, and hence, more choices for consumers. It will offer content from US and UK as well as Korea, China, Taiwan and Singapore. In addition, it will continue to offer blockbuster movies fresh out of the cinema; as well as exclusive complete TV series.Agnes Rozario, vice president, content group, Astro said, “Our On Demand (OD) offering is becoming an increasingly popular way for customers to watch what they want anytime, anywhere by offering volumes of amazing TV series, movies and entertainment.”Since its launch in October 2015, more of Astro's customers are connecting their PVRs and watching OD with – 350,000 connected boxes to date. OD compliments linear viewing with On Demand customers spending an additional 30% watching more content. This shows that Malaysians want to customise their entertainment experience to fit their lifestyle needs, explained Rozario.In addition, its local signature Malay titles such as Gempak Superstar and Maharaja Lawak Mega 2016 remain one of our most popular content on OD.Most recently Astro kicked off its Astro Universe campaign with a focus on the “Malaynnials” defined as progressive Malay consumers below the age of 35 years old.Malaynnials”, said Astro, are those who are influenced by the digital era and the social media culture and are currently over 10.3 million or 65% of all Malay consumers.
