Asia City explores online travel sector

Asia City Media Group has launched a regional-wide online travel portal, which will be powered by its collection of Asia City Network websites in major Asia markets.Travel Channel, launched initially in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai and will soon make its way to Kuala Lumpur.The channel is offers in-depth destination information on more than 100 cities in 50 countries with a strong focus on South East Asia.The channel is built from the foundation of Asia City Media Group's city living content, including HK Magazine (Hong Kong), BK Magazine (Bangkok), IS Magazine (Singapore), The List and Where Hong Kong, WHERE Singapore, and the KL Map.The launch site has received strong ad support from W Hotels Worldwide and Greg Crandall, country manager, Hong Kong and group creative director at Asia City Media Group, said advertiser interest in the online space was strong.He said its target of short to long-haul travelers across Asia was attractive to the hotel and travel related industries.In addition its Wego booking engine will be included in the site to provide up-to-the-minute details of hotels, flights and travel packages.  Travel Channel joins a growing and competitive online travel space with new players including the likes of CNNGo, vying for readers and ad dollars.CNNGo, backed by Turner Entertainment is also rapidly expanding its property across Asia , with the latest destinations including Sydney and South Korea.This year marks the 20th anniversary of Asia City Media Group.
