Which brands in APAC lead the way in inclusivity?

DBS Group is among the top eight countries in Asia Pacific leading the way in inclusivity this year with an average company score of 84%. The other companies that made the chart were Australia's Telstra (92%), Japan's Sony (76%), India's Infosys (76%), Hong Kong's CLP Group (87%), and Thailand's Indorama Ventures (69%).

This was according to research by DEI specialist organisation Equality Group, in collaboration with Equilibrium, which revealed the top APAC countries leading the way in inclusivity, as well as the top organisations within each country. The rankings were concluded based on six core categories: leadership, actions and policies, work-life balance, inclusive team, explicit DEI support, and additional public information. 

Singapore

In addition to being ranked top eight regionally, DBS Group Holdings also topped the charts as the top Singapore organisation leading the way in inclusivity. The top 10 organisations that made the list in Singapore spanned a range of industries, from financial services to telecommunications to real estate.

Following DBS in second and third place were Capitaland and Flex respectively. Other organisations that made the list included Singtel, UOB, Wilmar, OCBC Bank, Singapore Exchange, Genting Singapore and Ascendas Reit.

Hong Kong

Meanwhile, CLP Group ranked first in the list of inclusive organisations in Hong Kong, and came in fourth in the APAC rankings. The more inclusive companies in Hong Kong were found in sectors such as finance and energy. Hong Kong-based companies also had the tendency to report on the demographics of their workforce, with a degree of transparency around the demographics of their leadership teams.

Joining CLP in the top five are Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, Hang Seng Bank, MTR Corporations and CK Hutchinson Holdings. Other organisations that made the list include Hong Kong and China Gas, AIA, Techtronic Industries, China Overseas Land and Investment, and Greely.

Indonesia

Indonesia came in ninth in the APAC country rankings, but Unilever Indonesia, which ranked first in he list of inclusive organisations in Indonesia, did not make the cut in the APAC rankings. Unilever's website imagery played a role in its ranking, as it highlights gender, ethnic and religious diversity.

Indofood and Bank Rakyat Indonesia came in second and third place respectively, followed by Telkom Indonesia and Sampoerna. Joining them in the top 10 are Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, Chandra Asri Petrochemical, United Tractors, and Bank Central Asia.

Thailand

As for Thailand, Indorama Ventures ranked first as the top leading inclusive organisation in the market. It was also ranked eight in the APAC rankings. Following Indorama Ventures in second and third place were Thai Beverage and Charoen Pokphand Foods respectively. Companies in Thailand were found to have promoted inclusivity through support for flexible work arrangements and parental leave.

Other organisations that made the top 10 list in Thailand include CP All, Siam Cement, PTT, Siam Commercial Bank, Central Pattana, Airports of Thailand and Bangkok Airways.
