Edelman has named Andrew Kirk managing director of the firm’s Hong Kong and Taiwan offices, promoting him from deputy MD of its corporate practice.
Kirk steps in to replace Damian Coory who will finish his full time position from mid-May.
As MD, Kirk will oversee all operations of the Hong Kong regional hub office, working closely with Taiwan general manager Peter Tou on all management matters of that office.
He will also focus on hiring and retaining diverse talent and drive Edelman’s leadership in digital PR and intellectual capital more strongly in the Hong Kong and Taiwan markets.
Earlier this year David Brain, Edelman Asia Pacific’s president and CEO, said it was possible the Hong Kong office could grow to 100 or more people.
Kirk joined Edelman in 2009 and most recently rebuilt the Hong Kong corporate practice, more than tripling its size in the past year with a high-quality strategic offer combining corporate reputation and sustainability. He has also help to cement the firm’s leadership in crisis, issues management and training as a strategically critical end of the business.
Kirk has 12 years of experience working in Asia and was previously general manager and executive counsel at Hill & Knowlton Australia.
