AIA and Uth release new HK/Macau COVID-19 tribute video announcing free coverage scheme

While Hong Kong attempts to flatten the curve on new cases of COVID-19, AIA Hong Kong and Macau and Uth Creative Group have released the next part of its campaign related to the coronavirus. A new video pays tribute to Hong Kong and Macau’s citizens in facing the global pandemic and announcing a free COVID-19 coverage scheme.

The “Salute To Everyone” ad follows the March release of a video titled “Salute to the Unsung Heroes” that highlighted the efforts by frontline cleaning workers during the current COVID-19 crisis. In the new video, the focus is extended to include the struggles of Hong Kong and Macau’s general citizenry. Example stories featured include children trying to continue their studies at home, medical workers isolating from their families, friendship groups exchanging information and supplies, and various helpful members of the community doing their part.

Uth Creative Group CEO Desmond So pointed out, “Learning from our successful work earlier that sought to acknowledge the unsung heroes on the frontlines of the current fight against the virus, we knew that as long as we can capture how people truly feel, the rest of the campaign will fall into place. In doing so, we realised amazing stories are all around us,” he said, “for the second wave of the campaign, we wanted to give people a chance to express their thanks and capture the deep senses of appreciation, which is the kind of positive energy we needed right now!”

The slice-of-life documentary-style video draws attention to AIA’s new COVID-19 scheme, in which - from now until 30 June 2020 - customers and the general public can receive free COVID-19 cover upon downloading the “AIA Connect” mobile app.

After registering and completing an online enrolment form, users will be able to claim HK$/MOP 15,000  as “Diagnosis Benefit” if diagnosed with COVID-19. In the event of death due to the disease, a further payment of HK$/MOP150,000 “Compassionate Benefit” will be offered. AIA customers, who are already “AIA Connect” mobile app users, will be automatically entitled to this free cover along with any insured children. Additionally, upon completing an online enrolment form on the “AIA Connect” mobile app, they will be able to enrol two more uninsured children under 18 years old for the free cover.

“I am confident that the free cover is the concrete support that can provide you all the peace of mind needed in the fight against the virus,” said Knattapisit Krutkrongchai, CMO of AIA Hong Kong and Macau. He added, “In critical times like this one, customers need our support more than ever to cope with the challenging circumstance both practically and emotionally. That’s why we have produced this video to thank all of you who deserve our respect and further extended the scope of protection.”
