Y&R's Asia president Chris Foster tipped to leave agency

Chris Foster (pictured) will be leaving the newly formed agency VMLY&R Asia. Foster joined Y&R Asia last year as president. He took over from Matthew Godfrey, who left the agency after seven years to take up the CEO role of Nutrition Innovation.

Prior to his stint at the agency, Foster was president of global clients at Publicis Groupe. During his time at Publicis Groupe, Foster reported to Rishad Tobaccowala, chief strategist, Publicis Groupe.  He was worldwide chief operating officer at Saatchi & Saatchi, where he was responsible for the performance and operations of Saatchi & Saatchi’s major business units in Asia Pacific, the Americas, UK and Europe and the Middle East, according to his LinkedIn.

He was also a senior leader at Saatchi & Saatchi since 1999 in North America, Asia Pacific and Greater China, as CEO of Fallon USA 2008 to 2011.

Most recently, WPP confirmed that it is merging VML and Y&R to form VMLY&R, a move which comes days after the network was tipped to be uniting the two agency brands. The new entity will be fully operational in early 2019 and consist of more than 7,000 people, a statement read.
