CRC Sports, a member of one of Thailand’s biggest retail conglomerates Central Retail Corporation, has hired Y&R Vietnam to lead the digital duties for its first Supersports store in Vietnam. Y&R Vietnam will launch and manage the Supersports website and digital marketing.
The company’s plan is to open eight more stores across Vietnam by the end of this year.
“Vietnamese consumers are spoilt for choice, but Supersports brings all the best global brands under the one roof. This is a new retail concept in our market, making this both an exciting and challenging assignment and one that plays to our strength of leveraging digital to connect with the emerging Vietnamese urban middle class,” Y&R Vietnam CEO Matthew Collier (pictured) said.
Joshua Pycroft, VP International Business for CRC said: “Y&R’s creative strength stood out from the first presentation. This was supported by relevant local insight, and a sound grasp of the type of online presence Supersports would need, both in the short-term and down the line. We also felt that Y&R’s young and dynamic company ethos matched our own, and that of the brands we represent."
The appointment was made following a three-agency pitch over six weeks. CRC declined to name the competing agencies.
