Wipro Consumer Care Malaysia picks media agency

Wipro Consumer Care (LDW) Malaysia has appointed Wavemaker Malaysia to handle media duties following a pitch. Duties include strategy, planning, buying, and content innovation. According to the agency, it showcased a strong understanding of the consumer care category dynamics and purchase journey through its Provocative Planning methodology. This laid the foundation for its consumer-centric strategy, ideas and plans.

Wipro LDW is a division of Wipro and among the list of brands under Wipro LDW include Ginvera, Bio Essence, and Hygienix. Separately, PHD Malaysia still retains Wipro Unza, which forms the majority of Wipro’s business.

Wipro LDW's chief operating officer, Dwaraka Ayengar said: "We feel that Wavemaker, with its strong capabilities in both digital and traditional media, will help us to unlock the growth potential for our brands." Ayengar added that the company is in a very exciting phase and it has weathered the disruption caused by COVID-19 well and is now all set to accelerate its growth plans.

At the same time, Christine Ho, Wipro LDW's head of marketing and eCommerce, said Wavemaker offers a powerful suite of tools to provide insights that assist in the planning of the company's upcoming campaigns.

"The agency was extremely clear in outlining the project and scope of work while providing a solid content marketing plan, strategy, and system that aligns with our overall media marketing goals. The similarities in terms of attitudes and values make them a good cultural fit, which is an essential ingredient to an effective relationship and to ensure the creative work we produce aligns with our brand direction. I see that as a real shift in the opportunities available," she said. A+M has reached out to Wavemaker for additional information.

Meanwhile, Wavemaker Malaysia's GM Sheley Lim said: "We are truly excited with this partnership as the client not only valued our integrated marketing capabilities and strategic vision, but also our passion and energy. We’re looking very much forward to thriving together in this growth journey."

Lim was recently promoted to her role and was described by GroupM Malaysia CEO Chanchal Chakrabarty to be "a highly regarded media veteran with 18 years of experience". Lim has been with Wavemaker for two years and has been championing total eCommerce solutions for Wavemaker Malaysia and successfully acquired the first eCommerce exclusive beverage brand.

Alongside her promotion, the agency also appointed Usman Bin Tahir as senior business director, Ryan Foo as business director, Aw Wai Choong as regional planning director, and Chua Shu Jien as business director.
