WATCH WestJet brings Christmas early to The Dominican Republic

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.Canadian airline WestJet revived its Christmas Miracle project (see last year's campaign here) and spread the festive cheer this time out of Canada straight to Nuevo Renacer, a community in The Dominican Republic.Titled the 'Spirit of Giving', the airline embarked on a project that would benefit the community as a whole. The project was put together by its community investment team along with its partners at Live Different.Corey Evans, manager, sponsorship, community investment and experiential marketing, WestJet, said in the video that it was important that WestJet was part of a long-term development of this area and its residents.Well, WestJet wasted no time in helping.Families were sent to a mysterious blue sleigh that sat conspicuously at the end of their street. When they climbed on, they were invited to talk via a screen to none other than Santa Claus who was dressed in blue. These families then described what they wanted for Christmas. The very next day, the WestJet employees dressed as elves went to shop for the myriad items that were wished for.All of this culminated in a beach party full of synthetic snow and gifts.Watch the Christmas miracle tearjerker for yourself:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-BKX3G0BpQHere's a behind-the-scenes look at WestJet's project:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOUxDT5oUWA#t=58Marketing ploy or not, WestJet's efforts were surely a miracle for the residents of Nuevo Renacer.Written by Prasanthi Ram
