Walt Disney appoints David Shin as vice-president and general manager of HK and Taiwan

David Shin has joined The Walt Disney Company’s Hong Kong and Taiwan team as its vice-president and general manager.

Based in Taipei, he will be responsible for the company’s direct-to-consumer, studio, content sales and channels businesses in Hong Kong and Taiwan. He will also report to Luke Kang, managing director of The Walt Disney Company, North Asia.

Boasting more than 25 years of experience in the global media industry, Shin recently served as president and representative director of Japan and Korea at Fox Networks Group, a division of Walt Disney’s direct-to-consumer and international businesses that oversees international television assets.

“Shin is an experienced media veteran who has led markets and businesses across the Asia region. He has an impressive track record as a senior executive in the media industry and I am confident he can drive further growth,” Kang said.

Apart from Shin’s appointment, Fox Networks Group has also appointed Kerwin Lo as general manager of studio and franchise management, overseeing the promotion and distribution of films in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Last, but not least, Joanne Tsai will retire from her position as managing director of Fox Networks Group in the markets of Taiwan and Mainland China after 18 years with the company.
