VR tech brand PICO extends Chariot's global social duties

Virtual reality (VR) technology company PICO has retained Chariot Agency as its global social media agency, after the conclusion of a pitch which was held earlier this year. This marks the third year of the partnership between PICO and Chariot, as the VR brand continues its push to expand brand influence and deepen engagement across international markets.

Founded in 2015, PICO leverages its innovation, research and development capabilities to focus on VR all-in-one technology. It is currently committed to building an integrated extended reality (XR) platform that empowers developers, creators, and businesses. In 2021, PICO was acquired by ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok as a strategic move into the VR market as competitors like Meta released its Oculus headsets.

According to a statement seen by A+M, this year, PICO is set to amplify its presence in key overseas markets such as Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and beyond.

Meanwhile, independent creative agency Chariot said that as part of the renewed scope, it will continue to lead content planning, community building, and data-driven analysis across PICO’s global social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

“We’ve built a strong foundation of storytelling and community with PICO. The next phase is all about deepening impact. From emerging markets to core territories, our focus is on making PICO’s vision of VR a more immersive and inclusive experience for everyone," said Adrian Cheah, managing director of Chariot.

Chariot also added that the renewed partnership reflects a shared ambition to accelerate global visibility for PICO, and to solidify its role as a leader in shaping the future of virtual reality.

Earlier this year, Chariot unveiled its sponsorships of two Malaysian pickleball teams, Infinity Sports Academy and Subang Jaya Pickleball Club to develop the sport on a competitive level both locally and globally. Through the sponsorship, the agency aimed to ensure that Infinity Sports Academy and Subang Jaya Pickleball can focus on their training, competitions, and overall performance rather than having to seek funding for tournament entries, equipment, and travel expenses.

This comes after the agency promoted Gillian Yap to the role of general manager in August 2024. The appointment marked a significant milestone in Yap's career, having joined the agency as head of account management in 2022.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, PICO announced the integration of the NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud gaming platform on all its headsets, including its first all-in-one VR and MR headset — the PICO 4 Ultra. The integration aimed to provide PICO users with access to an extensive library of triple-A (AAA) games, offering a unique big-screen experience without the need for a TV or computer setup.

It also recently announced the release of its OS 5.13.0 update, which introduced major enhancement and new features such as a panoramic screen workspace optimisation, photo gallery enhancements, developer options expansions, motion tracker experience improvements, and more.
