Vidio is partnering with short-form drama platform ReelShort to expand its short-drama offering in Indonesia, with hundreds of titles set to become available on the Indonesian OTT platform from 1 September.
The partnership marks ReelShort’s first collaboration with an Indonesian platform and will also pave the way for co-produced short-drama series involving Indonesian production houses and talent.
ReelShort content will be housed under Vidio’s dedicated Short Drama tab and will be available to subscribers on the TV Extra, Platinum, Platinum Extra and Ultimate packages. The catalogue will span genres including romance, billionaire romance, fantasy and family drama, with titles available in Indonesian dubbing and subtitles.

More than 200 titles will initially be fully dubbed in Indonesian, as the two companies look to localise ReelShort’s bite-sized, binge-oriented storytelling for the market.
The collaboration extends beyond distribution. Vidio and ReelShort plan to develop a slate of short-drama series with Indonesian production houses, while Indonesian creative talent will have opportunities to gain production expertise and knowledge from ReelShort’s global short-drama operations.
For ReelShort, the deal represents another step in its Southeast Asian expansion, following partnerships with AIS in Thailand and Globe in the Philippines. The partnership was brokered by AR Global Media Network.
The move comes as short-form drama continues to gain traction across the region. Media Partners Asia data cited by the companies shows that Indonesia accounts for 39% of Asia-Pacific’s short-form drama audience, making it the region’s largest market for the format.
Globally, ReelShort is estimated to hold a 29% share of short-form drama market revenue, according to MPA. Separately, data from mobile advertising company Mintegral indicates that short-form drama apps have recorded quarterly growth of between 50% and 200% since the third quarter of 2023.
Vidio, meanwhile, has been building its own Short Drama catalogue since last year as part of a broader effort to adapt to changing viewing habits. The ReelShort partnership adds international short-drama IP to an ecosystem spanning sports, live television, licensed entertainment and original productions.
“Vidio continues to evolve alongside the changing ways Indonesians consume entertainment. As audiences increasingly look for content that fits seamlessly into their daily lives, we want to ensure they can find every type of entertainment they love on a single platform, from live sports, local originals, global entertainment to now, the rapidly growing format of short dramas,” said Sutanto Hartono, CEO of Vidio.
Vidio reached 5.8 million paid subscribers across Southeast Asia in Q2 2026, ranking third regionally, according to the company. The latest MPA and AMPD Online Video Consumer Insights: Southeast Asia Q2 2026 report also puts Vidio at a 20.7% share of Indonesia’s SVOD subscriptions.
For ReelShort parent company Crazy Maple Studio, the partnership also offers an opportunity to move beyond distributing its existing global catalogue and develop stories specifically for Indonesian audiences.
“Microdramas are rapidly moving from an emerging format into the mainstream, and the decision by a major OTT platform like Vidio to bring ReelShort to its millions of viewers demonstrates the growing appetite for short-form, highly engaging storytelling. Indonesia is one of the region’s most dynamic entertainment markets. We see tremendous potential not only to expand access to our global catalogue, but also to create original stories for Indonesian audiences,” said Joey Jia, founder and CEO of Crazy Maple Studio.
