Viacom to bring Comedy Central to Asia

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Asia will launch Comedy Central Asia - Southeast Asia's first 24-hour all-comedy network - on 1 November.Comedy Central is the only 100% global comedy network that serves more than 200 million homes in over 70 countries around the world.Comedy Central Asia will be aired 24 hours, featuring programmes designed for Asian viewers with original Comedy Central programming and sitcoms such as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, South Park, Workaholics, and Key & Peele, the Asia Pay-TV premiere of such titles such as Anger Management, Happily Divorced, Jo Koy Lights Out, as well as classic titles Mind Your Language and Boiling Points.Targeted at 18 to 34 year olds, Comedy Central Asia will feature a "Best of Asia" programming block showcasing regionally acquired shows such as the Singapore-produced comedy series The Noose, and locally produced content.Comedy Central Asia will be broadcast in both standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) targeting several markets throughout Southeast Asia."Asian audiences' senses of humour are truly unique and varied, but I'm confident that Comedy Central Asia will offer something for all comedy lovers and strike the right balance to keep audiences laughing yet reflect our tastes and sensibilities," said Indra Suharjono, Viacom International Media Networks Asia's executive vice president and managing director.According to VIMN, the official Comedy Central Asia Facebook page will be launched on 15 October.(Photo credit: Martin Crook)
