Varian Ignatius joins Mubadala Energy

Varian Ignatius has joined Abu Dhabi-headquartered international energy company, Mubadala Energy, as head of external relations and communications for the Malaysia country office. Ignatius (pictured) will support the Malaysia country leadership team, head of communications Paul Slinger, and his regional colleagues by strengthening collaboration with the company's respected partners and creating positive conversations through communications.

"I sincerely hope to build on the already thriving efforts that have propelled Mubadala Energy forward as a long-term investor in the region," he said in a LinkedIn post. Ignatius added that he is passionate about the energy industry and wanted to be part of an international energy company that champions energy transition and is building a bridge to a lower carbon future. He has experience in the oil and gas sector, having worked at PETRONAS Digital and Qatar Petroleum previously.

Ignatius was previously with Bank Negara Malaysia as deputy director, strategic communications. In that role, he oversaw media relations and internal communications. Before that, he was with PETRONAS Digital and helmed various roles from head, communications management to head of communications, transformation office. He was also among the individuals who developed and aligned the digital transformation communications strategy for PETRONAS, which Ignatius previously said impacted 48,000 employees and stakeholders. He has also worked at Citi and Whitbread.
