Unilever Indonesia has elevated its head of communication, corporate affairs and sustainability, Nurdiana Darus (pictured), to the board of directors, signalling a sharper emphasis on sustainability, public policy engagement and multi-stakeholder collaboration. This comes after Kristy Nelwan departed the communications director role, concluding a six-year chapter with the company.
The appointment was approved during the company’s extraordinary general meeting of shareholders, held virtually from its head office in BSD recently. Shareholders endorsed changes to the board composition, including Darus’ appointment as director.
Darus has been with the company since 2019. Her promotion to the board reflects what the company described as an ongoing commitment to strengthening its leadership bench and embedding sustainability and stakeholder alignment more deeply into corporate strategy.

Her career spans senior roles across public, private and multilateral institutions. Prior to and alongside her corporate work, she served as deputy minister at Indonesia’s National REDD+ Agency, senior strategy advisor to the United Nations Development Programme, Southeast Asia director at Rainforest Alliance, and held senior positions at Accenture. The company said her experience reflects strong purpose-driven leadership and a proven track record of creating meaningful impact, particularly across sustainability and public-sector initiatives in Southeast Asia.
The board of directors now comprises Benjie Yap as president director, alongside Darus, Neeraj Lal as finance director, Alejandro Meinardo Jr Santos Concha as sales director and Hendri Widiarta as HR director.
Separately, the company announced the appointment of Mario Abdi Amrillah as corporate secretary, effective 2 February 2026. A legal professional with more than 21 years of experience, Amrillah joined Unilever Indonesia in 2010 and has held a series of strategic legal roles.
In addition to his current role as general counsel of Unilever Indonesia, in his new capacity as corporate secretary, Mario is responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations. He will support the board of directors and the board of commissioners in upholding strong corporate governance, accountability, and regulatory integrity.
