Uber Eats launches measures to help partners, ensure customers' safety

Food delivery platforms have launched measures to adapt to the altered dining arrangements as the Hong Kong government rolled out new measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Uber Eats is the latest platform offering a series of measures to help restaurants stay afloat and protect customers.
Currently, Uber Eats is charging no service fee for all pick-up orders until 16 August and waiving all Uber Eats activation fees for small-and-medium restaurants joining the platform until the end of July.
To support its delivery partners, Uber Eats has launched an app tipping feature while the restaurants or delivery partners can receive the entirety of the tip.
To improve safety, a delivery partner will be asked to confirm via a programme that they have taken certain safety measures and are wearing a mask or face cover. The delivery partners will also be asked to take a selfie to confirm that their faces are covered. After verification, Uber Eats will let customers know via an in-app message.
Another measure by Uber Eats is the “Leave at door” feature, which encourages contactless delivery to minimise the spread of COVID-19.
