Uber to deploy self-driving cars in US this month

Uber will allow users to hail self-driving cars within a fortnight, the company has confirmed.

Starting later this month, Uber will allow customers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in US to call self-driving cars from their phones, hitting a milestone that no automative or technology company has yet achieved.

While Ford revealed plans for an autonomous ride-sharing services, Tesla offers autopilot in their vehicles, and Google has been testing the services for some years, Uber is the first ahead of these companies who brings a self-driving car-sharing service to market.

The car hailing film said it will be teaming up with Volvo on the service, who will be expected to deliver a total of 100 specially modified SUVs to Uber by the end of the year.
