TV5 wins Olympic Games broadcast rights till 2016

TV5 via its sports division Sports5 has secured the rights to broadcast the Olympic Games in the Philippines up to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.“Sporting events has been the number one program that unites all Filipinos. That’s why we are excited to bring to them the biggest sporting event with the best athletes from all over the world,” Noel Lorenzana, TV5 CEO and president, said in a statement.Sports5’s coverage begins with Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics on 8 February, followed late in the year on 16 – 28 August for the Youth Olympic Games to be held in Nanjing China.The network’s Olympic programming concludes at the Rio Summer Olympic Games from 5 – 21 August in 2016.Details on sponsorships or ad sales were not disclosed. Coverage of the Olympic events will be beamed on television via TV5, AksyonTV and Hyper and online through Sports5.PH and parent company PLDT.
