Skittles outsmarted Trump. For the inquisitive ones out there, Donald Trump Jr. recently equated a bowl of skittles to affected Syrian refugees. He took to Twitter and posted the following:This image says it all. Let's end the politically correct agenda that doesn't put America first. #trump2016 pic.twitter.com/9fHwog7ssN— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) September 19, 2016Users were quick to call him out on his tweet..@DonaldJTrumpJr FYI pic.twitter.com/PEIQtD3VzH — Chris York (@ChrisDYork) September 20, 2016To this the brand retaliated saying:Skittles are candy. Refugees are people. We don't feel it's an appropriate analogy. We will respectfully refrain from further commentary as anything we say could be misinterpreted as marketing.By the evening, Skittles had not only generated more than 30,000 mentions, it also saw thousand of likes and re-tweets with a trending hashtag #SkittlesWelcome .Why are 80% of these so called "migrants" military aged men? This is an invasion. Get ready for more stabbing & bombings #SkittlesWelcome pic.twitter.com/77kvm55KUA— Deplorable Melissa (@sweetatertot2) September 20, 2016This is a thoughtful and humane response to hateful stupidity #Skittles #SkittlesWelcome pic.twitter.com/4pHxCg7if9 — dominic (@dombleY) September 20, 2016I'd rather die eating a handful of Skittles than live a single day with @realDonaldTrump as president.#SkittlesWelcome— Neal Rogers (@nealarogers) September 20, 2016Despite the mass support, the company chose to refrain from commenting further on the sensitive debate.Good on you Skittles.
