Tourism Malaysia settles digital pitch

The Tourism Malaysia has appointed Kraken Interactive as its digital marketing agency.

A spokesperson from the agency confirmed the news to A+M. The appointment sees the agency working with Tourism Malaysia until 2017.

The agency was awarded the account following a pitch held mid last year. The spokesperson added that the account is for digital communications and covers areas such as social media, mobile marketing, online video, SEO and SEM.

Under the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Plan (MTTP:2020), the government aims to receive 36 million tourist arrivals with RM168 billion in tourist receipts by 2020.

Two major initiatives, Visit Malaysia Year 2014 and Year of Festivals 2015 campaigns, are expected to boost tourist arrivals to meet the targets set. The agencies appointed will play an integral role in helping to achieve this ultimate goal.
