YouGov: Touch 'n Go eWallet ranked top payment brand in Malaysia

Malaysian digital wallet and online payment platform Touch ‘n Go eWallet has topped YouGov’s Bank and Payment Brand Rankings of 2022 with a score of 39.9 points. Following closely behind is Maybank at 38.7 points. 

The list of rankings was collated based on YouGov’s BrandIndex’s positive Consideration score, which measures the percentage of a brand’s customers who would consider it when next in the market to use a financial institutions and services brand. The 10 brands listed have accumulated the highest average Consideration score in the duration of 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022.

Brands that also made it to the top 10 include DuitNow (29.0 points),  FPX (23.3 points), PayPal (22.8 points), Visa (22.4 points), GrabPay (20.2), CIMB (19.9 points), MyDebit (18.8 points) and Mastercard (18.5 points). Retail bank CIMB was the only traditional bank in the list of rankings.

According to YouGov, four of the brands included in the list of top bank and payment brands also showed a rise in popularity this year from the previous year. This is gleaned from the list of "most improved" brands of 2022 for the financial services sector.

Leading the most improved list is DuitNow, with a rise of 8.8, followed closely by Touch ‘n Go eWallet with a rise of 8.2 from 2021. MyDebit and FPX came in third and fourth with a rise in score of 3.0 and 2.1 respectively. Finally, coming in fifth is JomPay which did not make it to the overall top 10 list. Digital banks and payment companies continued to dominate the Improvers’ rankings.
