The Trade Desk names Calvin Chan as China general manager

Global advertising tech platform, The Trade Desk, has appointed Calvin Chan as the general manager for China, based in Shanghai.In this new role, Chan will lead the company’s business in China, with a particular focus on the localisation of the company’s branding and strategies, client relations, and industry partnerships. Chan will report to Troy Yang, senior vice president, North Asia.“Earlier this year, The Trade Desk pioneered a new China strategy that helps global advertisers access the world’s largest emerging middle class, and Calvin’s appointment will help accelerate our growth with major Chinese partners and advertisers. Calvin brings considerable expertise and experience to The Trade Desk, but also a well-established network that is critical to success in China.” said Yang.With over 10 years of digital media leadership experience, Chan most recent position was as CEO at AdMaster, China’s digital measurement and data solution provider, where Chan oversaw the company’s profit and loss, operational performance, organisational development, product R&D, and strategic partnerships. Prior to AdMaster, Chan held management positions in both China and the United States for Nielsen. Chan commented on his appointment, “The Trade Desk has developed a unique solution for the China market that helps global companies tap into local demand, and helps Chinese companies grow internationally. I look forward to working with our team and all our partners to scale the industry’s leading independent, objective ad-buying platform in China.”
