Metaverse powerhouse The Sandbox decides to come into physical world with pop-up in Hong Kong

The Sandbox, a decentralised gaming virtual world and subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has decided to make its move in the real world with its first-ever pop-up presence in Hong Kong to support the continuing expansion of its user base in the city.  Located on the fifth floor of K11 MUSEA in Tsim Sha Tsui, The Sandbox Alpha 3 Atelier will feature workshops led by experienced local design studios, hold in-depth sharing sessions about the metaverse, and showcase creative video content on large display panels.

By participating in a range of new experiences, HongKongers will be able to play-and-earn in the Sandbox during an extended period this summer.Visitors to The Sandbox Alpha 3 Atelier who register an account in The Sandbox will be rewarded through regular promotions. Participants will have a chance to win a 1x1 LAND and an NFT house created by our metaverse studio as their future home in the metaverse.

“With the opening of The Sandbox Alpha 3 Atelier, we are pleased to welcome an even wider group of users in Hong Kong to explore a truly open metaverse and enjoy a new range of experiences,” said Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox

“We have invited a wide range of partners to share new ways for users to develop avatars – their own digital identities – and to interact more extensively so that everyone can unleash their imagination and create their own dream in the metaverse,” Borget added.

A packed event schedule featuring workshops led by local studios such as Index Game, Pangu by Kenal, Metalympics, and UFO School, is designed for a range of audiences from school children, university students, adults, and the staff of leading corporate enterprises.   The institutions engaged in this programme include: The University of Hong Kong; City University of Hong Kong; the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education; NFT Association of Hong Kong; Rotary Club of Elite Orient; and numerous schools and other educational institutions.

Previously in May, communications company PCCW and telco company HKT have partnered with The Sandbox to acquire a Hong Kong inspired virtual land in Mega city and join the metaverse. Upon purchasing a Hong-Kong inspired neighbourhood in The Sandbox, the collaboration of the two brands is set to launch the world’s first virtual 5G mobile network and transform traditional film, TV and music content into a Web3-enabled new form of entertainment.

The collaboration also enables PCCW and HKT to explore new business opportunities, and the two companies promised to introduce more new-age financial and health technologies, plus eCommerce solutions, to build a fascinating virtual “metacommunity”, which will deliver an entirely new 5G-enabled entertainment experience.
