The Malaysian Insight (TMI) has relaunched its platform, approximately two months after it announced that it will cease publication to review its direction, news operations and commercial viability. In a Facebook post, the news outlet announced that it is back and will begin publishing news beginning 28 May. Reactions from netizens were mainly positive, with some saying that they were glad to have TMI back.Editor and CEO of TMI Jahabar Sadiq said in a statement to A+M that it will stick to a subscription and advertising model following its relaunch. The publication will also unveil a paywall "soon", he said. "We are glad to be back and glad to serve Malaysia and the world with news, views and videos," he added.A+M has reached out to TMI for additional comment on its marketing strategies.Jahabar told A+M previously that the decision to cease publication was due to a “challenging financial environment” faced by the publication as it missed launching a paywall and its page views traffic did not reach the targeted critical mass. He added that its staff members will remain on payroll as it recalibrates the news portal for a sustainable future. He added that revenue was impacted as TMI had yet to implement a paywall.(Photo courtesy: 123RF)
