US-based analytics and marketing consulting firm Teradata has appointed former IBM executive Ella Mae Ortega as its new country manager for the Philippines.
Ortega will be tasked to oversee and manage its sales, professional services and customer management strategies and will be reporting to Peter Hand, area vice president of Pacific, South Area and Korea.
Prior to Teradata, she was the vice president for sales and marketing for Fritz & Macziol Asia and territory manager for general business at IBM for 14 years.
Ortega said that the Philippines is an important market for Teradata, sharing that it currently has clients in the telco industry and is “well-positioned in the banking sectors.” Confirmed Teradata clients in the Philippines are Philippines Airlines (PAL), Globe Telecom and Smart Communications.
“With the emergence of big data as the new business imperative and a growing appreciation in the market on how business analytics can hone a company’s competitive edge, my charter is to drive growth in Teradata Philippines by expanding into new sectors while continuing to help our existing and new customers uncover valuable insights from vast volumes of data,” she adds.
