Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has reached an agreement which is worth RM$916.10million with MYTV Broadcasting (MYTV). This is to provide digital terrestrial television (DTT) infrastructure, network facilities and related services, said a report on Bernama.
The services would be accorded to MYTV for 15 years, from 1 Jan 2016 until 31 Dec 31 2030, with an option to extend for a term to be mutually agreed on, read a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday. It also said both TM and MYTV may mutually review the provisions of the agreement every five years with the first review to take place in 2019.
The initiative is under the purview of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission being the regulating body supervising the project.
MYTV was awarded the license by the Malaysian government to operate the infrastructure and network facilities for DTT services in Malaysia, to realise the migration of analogue terrestrial broadcasting to digital throughout the country by 2016, said its official website.
A+M has reached out to TM for a statement.
