In conjunction with Earth Day, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) collaborated with MyTeksi to demonstrate their commitment to the environment and sustainable transportation.A fleet of Nissan LEAFs, which runs on electricity, zipped around the Klang Valley, offering free ‘taxi' rides to passengers who booked their taxis via MyTeksi. This collaboration is a part of ETCM's efforts to help promote and create awareness for electric vehicles as an option for sustainable transportation.Dato' David Chen, executive director of ETCM said, the campaign is designed to allow people to experience a 100% electric vehicle and also to address any concerns of an electric vehicle and highlighting the many benefits of electric vehicles."With these free taxi rides, we aim to show how practical, affordable and comfortable our Nissan LEAF is in addition to contributing to environmental zero-emission cause," he added.Lucky passengers who were selected through the MyTeksi App bookings also had the opportunity to get a free-ride in the Nissan LEAF around the Klang Valley."We are thrilled to be able to give our passengers free-rides on the Nissan LEAF. We hope to see more Nissan LEAF as an option for taxi service transportation in the near future," said Aaron Gill, product and marketing head of MyTeksi.ETCM also launched a two-day Twitter contest called ‘Spot, Tweet and Win' to spread awareness about the free MyTeksi rides in the Nissan LEAF.Participants had to follow @NissanMalaysia on twitter, spot and snap a photo of the Nissan LEAF and tweet that photo along with the contest tagline which is "Spot a #LEAF and win from @NissanMalaysia @MyTeksi #EarthDay2013 free ride campaign" to @NissanMalaysia. Twenty winners were randomly chosen to win an exclusive Nissan LEAF miniature.
