Taiwan-based Medialand Digital Communication creates new MD roles

Taiwan-based Hakuhodo Group company Medialand Digital Communication Group has promoted Bernie Liu (pictured left), Peggy Chen (pictured middle) and Rick Hu (pictured right) to its newly created managing director roles, effective immediately.  

Medialand Digital Communication Group is part of the Taiwan-based communications giant Growww Hakuhodo Group, which was acquired by Hakuhodo in 2020. 

Within their new roles, the three managing directors will report to Ray Chiang, co-founder and CEO of Medialand Digital Communication Group (MDCG), a division of Growww Hakuhodo Group.

The three managing directors will reinforce and further expand the growth momentum across Medialand Digital Communication Group’s three primary business units: Medialand, which focuses on brand strategy and creativity; MX, a pioneer in the development of platform systems and branded interactive experiences; and MESh+, which specialises in data application research and digital media ecosystems. 

Liu, an industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience in marketing and communications, will serve as managing director for Medialand. He will continue to lead Medialand with the goal of expanding operations globally. 

Chen, whose career at Medialand Digital Communication Group spans more than 20 years, has been appointed managing director of MX. She will further drive the development of AI application technology at MX.  

With her strong technical experience and project management skills, she will lead the creation of new forms of branded interactive experiences. 

Meanwhile, Hu, who has over 20 years of experience in the digital marketing field, will lead MESh+ as managing director. With three years of experience at MESh+, Rick will continue to develop new services in data application across multiple digital media ecosystems. 

With a focus on Taiwan market, their existing clients include Coca-Cola Taiwan, Sony Mobile Xperia, Durax, Mei-xin Mooncakes, NESCAFE, LEXUS Taiwan, Royal Salute & Glenlivet of Pernod Ricard, Move Free, SUBARU Taiwan, Hennessy, Porsche, New Balance, Unilever Food Solutions, Triumph, IKEA Taiwan, Uniqlo Taiwan, CHANEL, Panasonic, Suntory, YAMAHA, 3M, Honda, HSBC, META, amongst others.

Vince Cheng, chairman of Medialand Digital Communication Group, said: “Liu, Chen, and Hu have been drivers of Medialand Digital Communication Group’s transformation and growth over the past six years, and I look forward to the great work that will come from their leadership.”

Most recently, Hakuhodo DY Holdings has introduced a new company that will be the digital marketing core of the Hakuhodo DY Group. The name of the company is yet to be determined.  

The move is part of the group's new medium-term business plan, which begins in FY2024. Located in Tokyo, the new company will hire approximately 3,000 staff and will be led by the group’s chairman Yuzo Tanaka, and president Hiroto Kosaka.
