Chinese and Japanese businesses dominated Asia's most influential brands this year as companies from two countries accounted for 60% of World Brand Lab's Asia’s 500 Most Influential Brands of 2021 list. China had 166 brands included in the list this year, and Japan had 134 brands.
Meanwhile, Singapore ranked sixth with 23 Singaporean brands making the list and Hong Kong came right after with 21 businesses in the list. World Brand Lab also studied consumer loyalty of national brands.
Unfortunately, Singapore Airlines was the only local brand favoured by Singaporeans, while Chow Tai Fook was the only Hong Kong brand won the hearts of Hongkongers.
The results varied in different countries. Indonesia and Philippines also had one brand each.
Malaysia and Vietnam, for example, didn't have any national brands that made the list.
The study added that, Japanese consumers had the highest national brand loyalty (80%), followed by South Korea (70%) and China (61%). All of these markets had consumers proud and loyal to home grown brands.
World Brand Lab also unveiled the top 10 most influential brands in Asia. Toyota (Japan), State Grid (China) and ICBC (China) were listed as the top three. Furthermore, Chinese brands such as Haier, Tencent, China Life and Huawei also made into the list. Sony and Honda, ranked seventh and eighth respectively, were other two Japanese brands among the top 10. Samsung was the only brand from South Korea in the list.

World Brand Lab released the list to evaluate the influence of Asian brands, and a total of 500 brands from 19 countries and regions were selected.
