Tim Williamson (pictured), who formerly helmed the role of managing director of Telum Media in APAC is launching strategic communications firm Leon Communications in Singapore. Leon Communications focuses on financial and professional services, and fintech in the APAC region and will be headquartered in Singapore. Some of the communications services it provides comprise strategy and messaging, reputation management, media relations, integrated communications and media training.

Additionally, it claims to be supported by a network of senior independent communications experts and partners in APAC and globally. Meanwhile Williamson, was also previously with Singapore-based strategic consultancy WATATAWA for close to two years as its managing director, prior to his three years with Telum. At WATATAWA he led its financial services practice. He also has experience working at Cognito Media, BBC, Bloomberg and Brunswick.

Williamson told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that he decided to launch Leon Communications in Singapore as he has extensive experience working in the market for over nine years. When asked about its competitors, Williamson said companies such as Cognito Media have somewhat similar focus as Leon Communications, as well as a number of other firms.

"Many big firms also offer financial services practices. I believe the combination of senior counsel, sector focus and a focus on really excellent client service and results will help us stand out,” he explained.
Williamson added that he has plans to scale quickly, but did not disclose specifically Leon Communications’ clients. However, it is already working with some fintechs and large financial institutions. Williamson did not share if the agency has plans to make more hires.

“We bring clients a combination of strategic thinking, sector and market experience, and hands-on execution backed by a relentless focus on helping them achieve outstanding results that support real business objectives,” said Williamson.
