StashAway hands bento boxes to hungry Hongkongers to talk balanced investment

Digital wealth management platform StashAway is offering free bentos to raise awareness about the importance of having a diversified and balanced investment portfolio, recreating a restaurant into a pop-up themed outlet to offer lunch boxes.
The pop-up restaurant temporarily replaces "A Bowl", a fusion poke bowl restaurant in Sheung Wan, to offer bento boxes. The company said, "What are the similarities between bento boxes and investment? Well, investment portfolios should be diversified and balanced, just like the ingredients of a bento box."
The marketing campaign aims to highlight the importance of not making emotional investment decisions. In addition, StashAway will also host a lunch and learn session on 8 December 2021 in Cantonese, further educating the public about the importance of investment.
Participants will receive a form to indicate the asset classes that they currently have in their investment portfolio. Each asset class, such as stocks, bonds, and gold, is represented by a bento box ingredient. The bento, prepared based on the form, will indicate how diversified and balanced their investment portfolio is.
“We want to emphasise just how important rational investing is, especially during the current short-term volatility we’re seeing in the markets," said Stephanie Leung, head of StashAway Hong Kong and group deputy CIO.
"It’s our ambition to motivate investors to stay invested and not let short-term volatility distract them from their long-term financial goals. And, if we can motivate investors to stay invested in a fun and memorable way, that’s even better!” she added.
In September, StashAway also offered free coffee to promote investment. In collaboration with Secret Tour Hong Kong, the campaign ran until 21 September at Exit A, Central station. The company offered coffee from 7:30 am to 9:30 am on every Monday to Friday. StashAway said the campaign consisted of five themes, including StashAway's status as Asia’s leading digital wealth manager, four-year track record of outperforming benchmarks, the comparison of data-driven and emotion-driven investing, risk management at the core of investing to weather through market volatility, as well as its single yet transparent fee of 0.2% to 0.8% of assets under management.
Targeting working professionals commuting to and from Central, the campaign offered coffee at Theatre Lane. The spokesman of the company said all coffee cups were distributed in just 35 minutes. The company also said in the second and third week during the campaign period, the location of distributing coffee would change.
