Starbucks brings MOLLY's creative spirit to coffeehouse rituals

To mark MOLLY's 20th anniversary, Starbucks and POP MART have launched an Asia Pacific exclusive collaboration, infusing her playful and creative spirit into everyday Starbucks experiences across eight regional markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Australia and the Philippines.

Known for her curiosity, self-assured spirit and love of painting, MOLLY has resonated with fans for over 20 years by inviting them to see a little of themselves in her sense of discovery.

A Starbucks spokesperson told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that MOLLY is a natural creative partner for the collaboration, bringing joy, expression, and playful exploration to familiar coffeehouse rituals. This aligns with Starbucks' ongoing commitment to creating everyday moments of connection and uplift. “Her 20th anniversary also makes this a timely moment to celebrate her creative journey into a globally recognised cultural icon, in a way that feels joyful, personal and rooted in everyday connection.”

Starting 3 August, the limited-time collaboration introduces three artistic expressions of MOLLY, specially created for this anniversary. Appearing as an artist, cherub and siren, each design reflects a different facet of MOLLY’s personality, from her creative roots to keen sense for exploration. Woven through merchandise, the designs bring MOLLY’s imaginative world into Starbucks coffeehouses that customers know and love.

Bringing MOLLY's colourful spirit to life, the pure matcha cream Frappuccino blended beverage offers a flavour profile inspired by her playful character within the Starbucks handcrafted beverage range. It is available in a Grande size and served in a limited-edition MOLLY design paper cup, while stocks last.

Beyond beverages, the collaboration has introduced a limited-edition range of drinkware and lifestyle accessories inspired by MOLLY’s artistic sensibilities and the three exclusive designs created by Starbucks for her 20th anniversary.

Spanning stainless steel tumblers, mugs, and foldable umbrellas, each piece features MOLLY as an artist, cherub, or siren through colourful illustrations and lively details. Made for everyday use, the collection aims to let fans carry a side of MOLLY that speaks to them, extending her expressive world beyond the coffeehouse and into daily routines.

To further engage with MOLLY's fans in Hong Kong, the Starbucks coffeehouse at Tung Chung Crescent Store will offer MOLLY-themed décor and photo opportunities. Rooted in her spirit of self-expression, the experience invites fans to gather, connect, and celebrate in their own way, bringing the anniversary to life through vibrant visuals and playful in-store touches. The campaign is also supported across Starbucks’ owned digital and social media channels, as well as earned media and influencer engagement.

Alan Chan, general manager, Starbucks Hong Kong and Macau, said: “We're delighted to partner with POP MART to celebrate MOLLY's 20th anniversary. MOLLY has inspired fans for two decades, and we're excited to bring those qualities into the Starbucks coffeehouse experience.”

“Through handcrafted beverages, limited-edition merchandise and a themed coffeehouse experience, we're bringing MOLLY's creativity and imagination into the Starbucks experience while creating new ways for customers to engage with the brand and celebrate,” Chan added.

As a playful nod to the iconic Starbucks Siren, the brand has been partnering with various intellectual properties (IPs). For example, in April, Starbucks teamed up with the movie The Devil Wears Prada to launch four new drinks globally, each inspired by one of the film's iconic characters. Designed to add a touch of movie magic to customers' daily coffee routines, this partnership followed Starbucks' earlier "It's all good energy" collaboration with Adrian Grenier.

Back in March, Starbucks also turned everyday coffee runs into wizarding adventures with its partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. The collaboration leveraged the cultural power of the Harry Potter franchise to strengthen Starbucks’ experiential marketing. At the heart of the campaign were three "Honeydukes bursting bonbons" beverages crafted with vanilla notes and honey bergamot flavoured bubble bursts that popped with citrusy brightness.
