Spotify creates another audio hub, this time for Netflix fans

Spotify creates another audio hub, this time for Netflix fans

Spotify and Netflix have partnered to launch Netflix Hub on Spotify, which allows fans to get the full audio-streaming experience from their favourite Netflix entertainment titles. The move comes after fans of Netflix's Korean show Squid Game created over 22,500 unique themed playlists to keep the experience going. "It’s clear that after the credits roll, viewers are left wanting even more - and they come to Spotify to hear it," Spotify said.

The Hub, which can be simply accessed by searching "Netflix" on Spotify, provides users access to official soundtracks, playlists, and podcasts to Netflix's shows, along with exclusive Spotify content. These include official playlists for hits such as Money Heist, Bridgerton, and On My Block, as well as the official soundtrack for shows such as Squid Game, Bruised, and Cowboy Bebop.

Additionally, users can also explore more about their favourite titles on Netflix-related podcasts, including Okay, Now Listen, Netflix Is A Daily Joke, 10/10 (Would Recommend), and The Crown: The Official Podcast

As Spotify enters the next stage of its partnership with Netflix, Netflix Hub has released an enhanced album experience for Netflix’s new action-packed Western film, The Harder They Fall; featuring behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the movie’s soundtrack, led by Jay-Z, and the album’s exclusive audio liners from featured artists like Kid Cudi, Koffee, and Ms. Lauryn Hill. Users can access these Spotify features through canvas, storylines, and playlist clips.

Furthermore, Spotify has refreshed the platform destination for Money Heist in honour of the show's second part of the final season, which will release on 3 December 2021. The revamped Money Heist destination includes videos from the cast and an official playlist featuring tracks from the latest episodes. Fans can also take the Character Match Playlist quiz to find out their Money Heist character and soundtrack match.

This is not Spotify's first foray in elevating consumers' experiences with their favourite films and shows. In July 2019, it partnered with Disney to launch Disney Hub on its platform. Similar to its partnership with Netflix, Disney Hub featured original soundtracks and official playlists for Disney and Pixar animated films, Marvel, Star Wars, as well as tracks from Disney's live-action shows and movies. It later launched curated Disney content to users in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan, including Asian-language versions of Disney music, and classic soundtracks.

Separately, Spotify recently removed the shuffle play button from the top of the page for albums upon Adele's request, following the release of her latest album, "30". According to the British Grammy-winning star, she believes the tracks should not be shuffled on random, but rather listened in their order of arrangement instead, telling a story. Nonetheless, users still wishing to shuffle an album can go to the "Now Playing View" and select the shuffle toggle. According to CNN, a Spotify spokesperson said the team was excited to share that it has begun rolling out a new premium feature that has been long requested by both users and artists to make play the default button on all albums.
