Social media app AppZaloot has appointed GO Communications to manage PR, digital and influencer engagements. As part of the 12-month contract, the agency will facilitate all communications leading up to, during, and following the launch in all Southeast Asian markets prior to the platform's global expansion, by activating its regional network of agencies under the GO Communications Group.

AppZaloot has been in the making for five years and will be first introduced in Malaysia prior to its regional and global expansion. It combines social media interaction with a loyalty and rewards programme, which will utilise blockchain and crypto technology, benefitting individual users and businesses. In addition, the platform will also include a Friends feed, connecting users anywhere in the world with no ads and an uncluttered user interface. Meanwhile, local businesses will be able to connect with the surrounding community, based on users’ interests, from shopping, F&B and entertainment to accommodation and trade services.

"We are truly excited as we are in the final stages of building the SuperApp, which will be rolled out in stages beginning later this year. Malaysia will be the first market to experience the platform, and we’re certainly excited to be working with GO Communications, leading up to our launch, not only locally but in the region," Max Thomas (pictured left), founder of AppZaloot, said.

He explained that the agency has an excellent track record of championing brands and products while developing some "truly stand-out campaigns". As such, the brand sees GO Communications as the right fit for it, not only as an agency but as a critical business partner as it rolls out the platform. Thomas is confident that AppZaloot will benefit communities and small businesses around the world.

According to Thomas, the company is building a team of tech and business development experts in Europe and Asia to facilitate the rollout of the AppZaloot platform. When fully operational, the AppZaloot platform will include features and uses such as a location-based local feed, connecting users to current happenings up to 25 kilometres around them. As such, the brand said that its app will give users a great way to interact with the communities around them, true to the platform's catchphrase - "in the know, wherever you GO".

Additionally, AppZaloot has pledged to conduct business in a different way, channelling a percentage of its revenue back to communities, funding local projects, which are picked by members of the community. Users are also assured that their data and privacy will be protected at all times to facilitate a safe experience.

Meanwhile, GO Communications CEO Peter de Kretser (pictured right) said: “We have no doubt in our minds that AppZaloot will be a true game-changer in the social and digital space, which will redefine social and community interactions. We are all systems GO in developing a truly distinctive launch campaign here in Malaysia and in Southeast Asia by activating our partners around the region under the GO Group."

De Krester also thanked Thomas and his team for the honour of working with them and is confident that AppZaloot will be able to energise local communities and the social space with his experience and expertise.

Separately, GO Communications solidified its leadership team in January 2022. Sheree Qua, who has been with the agency since its inception, is its GM and CFO. On the other hand, Choulyin Tan assumes the role of communications director, client services director-at-large. Additionally, Zalfian Fuzi, who will capitalise on his marketing background as communications director, and business development will join GO Communications' core leadership.
