Sime Darby in Malaysia has appointed IPG Mediabrands to handle its media planning and buying duties.
Mediabrands Malaysia will be responsible for integrated media planning and buying duties for a large portfolio of Sime Darby brands such as Ford, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Hyundai, niche property developments such as residential, hospitality and business and retail facilities in Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Australia. The agency will also handle Sime Darby’s portfolio of sustainable solutions in industrial biotechnology amongst others.
The business was won from incumbent, Mindshare, which held the account since 2009. A+M understands that the pitch saw agencies such as IPG Mediabrands, Mindshare, Zenith Optimedia, Starcom and Carat vying for the account. The pitch took place in July this year with Mediabrands appointed as the agency-of-record in mid-August.
