Blockchain fintech company OIO Singapore has appointed marketing and media industry veteran, Geoff Tan (pictured), as its CMO. The appointment comes as OIO looks to strengthen its team and deepen its focus to offer bespoke financial services and blockchain consulting.

In his new role, Tan will spearhead all marketing and branding strategies aimed at reaching out to growth-oriented investors and business owners, offering them bespoke blockchain consultation by its team of domain experts. Tan reports to CEO of OIO Singapore Rudy Lim.

Tan said that he was initially intrigued when Lim approached him to join the company, then enthused and excited to be involved in evangelising blockchain and its broad suite of cutting-edge offerings. "Blockchain is definitely here to stay, and people need to be made aware of the significant impact this innovative peer-to-peer decentralized ledger technology can deliver to their sphere of involvement, both as personal investors and leaders in industry," he added.

Tan was formerly chief ideas officer at B2B property management platform Really Singapore, where he spearheaded the creation of omnichannel experiences for a highly diverse real estate community consisting of end-users across a motley of profiles. During his time there, he was responsible for reshaping and re-defining innovative engagement strategies relating to digital experiences within the real estate scene. He also worked closely with company founders, CEO Joerg Zeugner and COO Davin Wang, and took on a member position in the leadership executive team.

Prior to that, Tan was with SPH, where he was head of its creative and content marketing arm agency Sweet. He was also previously the managing director of SPH Magazines’ luxury business. Tan was also in charge of SPH luxury titles The Peak and ICON. Additionally, he oversaw SPH Magazines’ portfolio of custom publications, including SilverKris, the travel magazine of Singapore Airlines. Tan left his role after 34 years with the company.

Lim said as the blockchain business grows, the company looks to bring across the "oasis of opportunities", especially to growth-oriented investors and industry captains. â€œAs we introduce targeted financial and consulting products and services to our customers powered by blockchain technology, we are also shoring up capabilities in many areas, with marketing and branding being one of them," he added.

Spearheaded by Lim, who was formerly head of fintech at DBS Bank, OIO Singapore focuses on achieving and developing customised blockchain solutions to uncover value for customers. OIO Holdings, which owns OIO Singapore, interoperates with teams of blockchain specialists abroad to integrate blockchain with finance.
