Global beauty retailer Sephora has named Jenny Cheah (pictured) managing director for Southeast Asia, Oceania and South Korea. She will report directly to Alia Gogi, president, Sephora Asia.
In her new role, Cheah will lead a diverse regional team and continue to drive the global beauty retailer's business in Sephora Southeast Asia, Oceania and South Korea.
Prior to her new position, Cheah's 25-year career with LVMH began as a management trainee at DFS, where she honed her leadership skills and business acumen to oversee different aspects of the business, from merchandising and retail operations to business development and management. Cheah moved to Bulgari where she spent seven years building the brand and leading the growth and expansion of South Asia as its regional managing director and subsequently, as president of Bulgari Greater China.

Cheah added, "I'm beyond excited to join Sephora at a time when we continue to reimagine, redefine and challenge the perception of beauty. Our corporate purpose that is deeply anchored in empowering the extraordinary in each and all of us, is something that I profoundly believe in, and I can't wait to work with my amazing teams across Southeast Asia, Oceania and South Korea to bring this to life."
Commenting on the appointment, Alia Gogi, president of Sephora Asia, said: "Cheah is joining Sephora at a truly exciting time as the prestige beauty market rebounds after COVID. With her robust knowledge of the prestige industry and Southeast Asia, she will play an instrumental role in our ambition to continuously elevate the Sephora experience to create the most loved beauty community in the world."
Meanwhile, Sephora said in a LinkedIn post: "Cheah has been with parent company LVMH for 25 years, having held different leadership roles at Bulgari and DFS. We wish her a warm welcome and every success in her new role at Sephora."
MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Sephora for more information.
Last April, Stuart La Brooy took on the new role of VP of Sephora, Southeast Asia and Oceania, excluding Greater China, leading marketing, customer satisfaction, and loyalty. La Brooy told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that Sephora's commitment to sustainability, diversity, and inclusion drew him to the company. He reports to Sarah Boyd, MD of Southeast Asia and Oceania.
"Everyone I spoke to during the process had a genuine passion to be a positive impact on the community and their employees, which really impressed me," he said. He added that Sephora is "the only global multi-brand retailer in the prestige beauty category" and Asia is the largest, fastest-growing, and most dynamic geography. These factors made it hard to pass on an opportunity with Sephora, La Brooy said.
