PR agency WE Communications has appointed Sara Pereira (pictured) as its regional technology practice lead in Asia Pacific. The appointment comes in line with the agency’s aim to continue its growth in servicing regional and global technology clients across its network.
Pereira joins WE with more than 20 years’ experience running marketing communications programs across the APAC region. She was previously with Ogilvy, helming the role of regional lead across communications, technology and entertainment functions. At Ogilvy, she was responsible for building its technology and social practices across 10 regional markets, working with clients ranging from fast-growth startups to Fortune 500 companies in the eCommerce, social media, and consumer and business technology products industries.
In her new role with WE, Pereira will be charged with driving new business growth for the technology sector and increasing cross-regional collaboration, in partnership with local market leadership. She will also provide senior counsel to WE’s existing technology client portfolio. Pereira said that WE has a strong technology heritage and point of view on how brands should address the steadily rising expectations of stakeholders in today’s state of disruption and transformation. “I look forward to partnering with our teams and clients across the region to educate audiences, build influence and drive impact through their communications,” she added.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Wilson, executive vice president of Singapore and Australia said Pereira’s technology sector knowledge paired with her experience building teams and businesses across the region makes her the perfect choice to unify the agency’s powerhouse technology practice and its teams across Australia, China, India and Singapore to deliver impactful counsel and outcomes for technology clients.
Pereira’s appointment comes shortly after WE Communications bolstered the agency with three new hires. WE Comms appointed Alicia Eu as the head of corporate; Sophia Hsu as the head of technology; and Sahana Prabhakar as the head of healthcare. Each of the three new leaders will be responsible for overseeing and growing their respective sector’s client base.
