Grab has hired Sandeep Khanna (pictured) as its new regional lead for people and organisational development. In a statement to Marketing, Khanna said the role is a newly created one and he will be reporting to Ong Chin Yin, head of people at Grab.
Khanna was previously Facebook’s learning and development partner in Asia Pacific, where he reported to Jed Tai , Asia Pacific’s head of learning and development. Facebook has confirmed the move to Marketing. Marketing understands that the company is still in the midst of looking for a replacement.
In his new role, Khanna will be responsible for performance and change management, learning and development, and diversity and inclusion. He will be covering all markets Grab has a presence in, including Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. According to Khanna, this is an “expanded role” compared to his time in Facebook, where learning and development was his main focus.
He said,”My passion revolves around building and developing people, around their passions and strengths. Personally, it’s a perfect evolution for me from a career standpoint. I made a conscious decision to move to coaching and learning from a career in marketing and branding three years ago, and this takes me deeper into the people space.”
Khanna has over 25 years of branding and marketing experience in Asia. Prior to his role at Facebook, he was the managing director of Brand Learning Asia Pacific and has held various senior regional marketing roles at brands such as LG Electronics (as APAC vice president of corporate marketing), Nokia and Akzo Nobel ICI Paints.
