Sampoerna appoints media agency in Indonesia

Mindshare, the global media agency network part of WPP, has won the PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna TBK account, following a pitch.

Sampoerna, one of the largest Indonesian tobacco companies and a subsidiary of PT Philip Morris Indonesia, has awarded its digital business to Mindshare.

Beating other digital agencies Isobar and Ignite, Mindshare’s three-year contract will kick off in 2015, covering production and media for all Sampoerna products – including A Mild, Sampoerna, Dji Sam Soe, nd Marlboro.

Commenting on Mindshare’s first digital-only win, Himanshu Shekhar, CEO, Mindshare Indonesia, said: “We took the brief as a challenge to not just show what we can do now, but also to take a forward-looking approach to digital.  In the end, we believe our entrepreneurial and imaginative approach was our edge. We are excited to work with one of the strongest and most established companies in Indonesia to take them to the next level of digital media.”
