From ink blots to scribble to skribble

Before there were campaigns and clients, there was just an ink blot. A scribble.

The ink spread. Dots became lines, lines became stories. And from those first scribbles came Skribble: bold, brutally honest, and built on the belief that everything great starts small.

Five years later, that ink blot became a blueprint, still marked by the same madness.

S is for stirring sh*t up

We never wanted to fit into the agency mould. We still don’t. The vision was simple: great work, with great people, minus the pretence and posturing.

In five years, that mindset took us across industries – from banking to biscuits, to townships to TikTok – and from pilot projects to gold awards, and Agency of the Year accolades.

We don't just want to win. We want to connect. Ours is a business of building networks, not pedestals. If no one's cheering for you, it's not a win. It's a lonely plaque.

Teng Chan Leong, CEO of Skribble Group

So, we built networks across our agency, industries, and now, borders. Turns out, stirring sh*t up opens big doors.

S is for scaling without selling out

When the opportunity came to go regional, we expanded with intent. This year marked a milestone: the official launch of Skribble Australia.

Same gutsy creative, just with more slang, sunshine, and better coffee.

But that is just the beginning. Through our role in the Strategic Asia Marketing Alliance (SAMA), we’ve expanded across Asia Pacific – teaming up with like-minded independents who believe in doing great work with people they trust.

And now, it is getting bigger.

SAMA has officially joined forces with MISSION Hubs, the international network under UK-based MISSION Group. And two worlds have collided:

  • SAMA agencies get access to global briefs, tools, and platforms.
  • MISSION agencies gain local insights across Asia.
  • Clients win with scale, speed, and cultural depth.

We’re building bridges. The kind that lets good work travel and talent grow beyond borders.

Of course, going bigger means working smarter. We ensure this growth is holistic, not just outwardly, but inwardly.

S is for systems that actually work

Most people build a product after they sign a deal. We did the opposite.

Skribble Learn, our school management system, was built before we had a single client – powered purely by instinct, conviction, and a CTO who saw a broken space in education tech and refused to wait for permission.

Everyone was offering one-size-fits-all-systems. We wanted something schools could actually shape to their needs, not the other way around.

Lee Xin, CTO, Skribble Group

With a working proof-of-concept in hand, Skribble Learn secured our first school in months.

It was business and tech, united by a passion for education. And underneath it all? A philosophy grounded in respect that every school is different, and the tech used should reflect that.

But tools alone aren’t enough. Great systems get you organised. Great instincts get you somewhere. Which leads us, inevitably, to AI.

S is for sense over circuit

So, let’s talk about AI. Not the hype, the headlines or the existential panic. Just the reality.

AI isn’t replacing Skribble. It’s giving us a chance to refocus. We use it to pressure-test our ideas. To reference SOPs in real-time. To run quality checks. To kick-start concepts. And yes, sometimes to find a synonym at 11:48pm that’s not “disruptive”.

For Skribble, the bigger value lies in “authentic intelligence”, the human instincts that know when to rely on AI, and when to trust our own gut over a “perfect” algorithm.

But the work is only half the story. The people? That’s the plot twist.

S is for slightly unhinged, fully committed

It is the people, the ones behind the screens, behind the shoots, behind the calls, that’s where the real story lives.

We’ve grown across five divisions, welcoming bold thinkers, multiple personalities and even perfectionists who can’t unsee a pixel shift. No doubt, we take our work seriously. Ourselves? Not so much.

Now, 60-man strong, culture is still something we hold on dearly to. It’s arguably, something we accidentally create while trying to agree on lunch.

We've had movie nights, karaoke battles disguised as board games, and enough Matcha runs to justify opening a Skribble café.

But as the team grew, so did the fun. Now we’ve got fishing fanatics, bouldering buffs, go-kart purists, and, in a plot twist no one saw coming, enough Skribblers to form a boy band: the legendary Sahaja Boys, inspired by Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters.

No matter how much we've grown, the one thing that hasn't changed is that we’re still figuring it out. Loudly, lovingly, and often with someone in the corner yelling “let’s get Matcha!” Somehow, it works.

S is for so what’s next?

So, you see, S is for many things. S for Skribble. S for strategy, sharp turns, and sass.

Five years later, from turning one day into day one, to adding many plot twists along the way, we have arrived at the crossroads of global domination.

Dramatic? Maybe. Determined? Absolutely.

With Australia, SAMA, Skribble Learn, and AI in our corner, we’re locked in for bigger and bolder adventures. And the next chapter might just be your part.

Whether you’re in KL, Melbourne or somewhere in between, we’re always looking for another mastermind. After all, every solution starts with an S.
