Ryan Gracie has stepped into a major new role at Big W, joining the executive leadership team as chief customer and revenue officer.

The move comes as Woolworths transitions online marketplace MyDeal - where Gracie has served as chief marketing officer since 2021 - into the broader Big W ecosystem. MyDeal was acquired by Woolworths in 2022 in a $243 million deal designed to strengthen its e-commerce capabilities in home and lifestyle categories.

Gracie previously spent five years at Catch, including a key stint during its aggressive growth and marketing evolution prior to its acquisition by Wesfarmers. His new remit at Big W will span customer strategy, brand, digital, and revenue performance as the business sharpens its focus on omnichannel growth and retail experience.

“This is an immense privilege, and I’m eager to contribute to a brand that is so deeply woven into the fabric of Australian family life,” Gracie wrote on LinkedIn. “They say never step into a great person’s shoes, but I’m honoured to try.”

Gracie paid tribute to MyDeal founder Sean Senvirtne and the broader leadership team, who he credited with taking the company from ASX listing to full integration with Woolworths. “You taught me the power of patience and focus,” he said, calling the past four years a “masterclass in entrepreneurialism and vision.”

The appointment also signals a continued evolution of Big W’s internal structure as it integrates marketplace and first-party retail, with MyDeal’s capabilities set to bolster the value chain across sourcing, digital merchandising and customer data.

Gracie will report to Big W managing director Dan Hake and work alongside Big W’s senior executive team including chief marketing and digital officer Michael Laxton. He takes over from Vanessa Rowed, who exited Big W in June.

Woolworths is expected to sunset the MyDeal brand as part of the integration, focusing future efforts on consolidating digital commerce under the Big W umbrella.
